See your business clearly, inside and out.
Running a small business often means layering systems as you go. Finances, admin, and client work all need attention, and over time things can become harder to manage than they need to be.
The Small Business Finance & Systems Check is a one-off, practical review of how your business currently runs behind the scenes. It focuses on structure, clarity, and usability so you can understand what’s working, what’s creating friction, and where small changes could make day-to-day management simpler.
This is not about overhauling everything. It’s about making what you already have clearer and easier to manage.
This service is designed for freelancers and small business owners who are already trading and want a clearer view of how their systems and finances are set up.
It’s a good fit if:
- You are earning money but don’t feel fully in control of the back-end of your business
- Your accounting system technically works but feels messy or overcomplicated
- You rely on spreadsheets, memory, or workarounds more than you’d like
- You want to make things easier to maintain before they become a problem
- You work with an accountant, or plan to, and want your records and structure to be easier to hand over
You do not need to be behind or in difficulty. Many businesses book this simply to reduce unnecessary friction.
This is not for
- Brand new businesses with no trading history
- Anyone looking for tax advice, HMRC guidance, or compliance sign-off
- Businesses wanting ongoing bookkeeping without an initial review
- Anyone looking for the cheapest or quickest option
If you’re unsure, a short conversation before booking can help clarify whether it’s the right fit.
This is a fixed-scope, one-off review focused on clarity and structure.
1. Behind the scenes
A review of your internal systems and processes, including:
The tools you use for admin and finance
How information moves between systems
Where work is duplicated or overly manual
Where tasks rely too heavily on memory or workarounds
The aim is smoother day-to-day operation, not additional complexity.
2. Money flow
A review of how your finances are structured and tracked, including:
Your Xero or Sage setup
Chart of accounts structure
Invoicing and payment processes
Expense categorisation
Visibility of cashflow and financial position
If you are preparing for Making Tax Digital, this review can help ensure your accounting system is organised and consistent for digital record-keeping before working with your accountant on submission and compliance requirements.
This focuses on structure and usability only. It does not provide tax advice or confirm regulatory compliance.
3. Website structure and clarity
If your website plays a role in enquiries or bookings, we review:
Whether it’s clear what you do and who you’re for
Whether services are understandable and easy to navigate
Whether it’s obvious what the next step is
Whether there are broken or confusing links
Whether your website reflects how your business actually operates
This is a structure and clarity review, not a marketing performance or SEO audit.
What you’ll receive
A written summary outlining:
What’s working well
What’s creating friction
What can be simplified or improved
Clear, practical next steps
You’ll also receive a follow-up call to talk through the findings and ensure you’re clear on what to prioritise next.
Some businesses need further support once the initial check is complete. Where that’s useful, additional services can be discussed and scoped separately. There is no expectation to book anything beyond the Small Business Finance & Systems Check.
Accounting system setup
If you do not currently have an accounting system in place, or your existing setup requires a more substantial rebuild, accounting system setup can be provided as a separate service.
This focuses on creating a clear, practical structure in Xero or Sage that is appropriate for your business and easy to maintain and hand over to your accountant.
Scope and cost are agreed in advance based on the complexity of your business.
Ongoing bookkeeping support
Limited ongoing bookkeeping support may be available for finance systems I have personally set up or reviewed.
This is designed to maintain a clean, consistent structure and prepare records for accountant review. Ongoing support is offered on a limited, invitation-only basis.
Website structure and link check
If your website requires a deeper review of structure and navigation, this can be provided as a separate service.
This focuses on clarity, alignment, and usability rather than marketing performance.
Website content writing
Website content writing is offered following a Website Structure and Link Check to ensure the foundations are in place before new copy is created.
This approach avoids rewriting pages around unclear services or broken structures and ensures the content reflects how your business actually operates.
Projects are scoped separately and agreed once the initial review is complete.
Important note
This service focuses on systems, structure, and organisation. It does not provide tax advice, HMRC guidance, or compliance sign-off. All regulatory and submission decisions remain your responsibility.
This is just an enquiry. I’ll email you the full details before you make a purchase.
